Course Syllabus
Sexual Assault Nurse Examiner Education and Retention
This course is part of a training program consisting of three individual parts: didactic (online), skills training (in person), and vicarious trauma training (hybrid).
The on-line didactic portion of this course will take approximately 40 hours to complete. We suggest you go in order of the modules and do not skip around. You must complete each section of the modules before moving on to the next. As you are working through the modules, if you have questions, please post them to the general course questions discussion board or reach out to faculty. Remember, your question may help others, not just you. Critical thinking is so important to forensic nurses. We suggest that you take notes while you are watching the videos. Ask yourself, "how would I apply this information to the case study?" "How would I change things if..." By doing this, you will increase your ability modify your exams in a patient-centered manner. After you have completed all of the modules, you will take the post-test. You have two opportunities to pass with an 80% or greater to earn your completion certificate. If you do not receive a passing score on your first attempt, please review the modules, reach out with questions, take a deep breath and try again. You can do this. If you would like to take the in person skills training, you can find the link in the task bar to your right under pages. We look forward to seeing you there!
